OPI San Francisco Collection Review + Swatches (Fall 2013)

Whee~ I feel like we're actually getting into fall now, which makes me happy since it's my favorite season.  Today I have the fall collection from OPI, so let's get started - there's a lot!

A-Piers To Be Tan, 2 coats: mid tan-brown creme.  This is a pretty mid-toned brown that should agree with most skin tones.  It dries smooth and creamy and applies just as well.

I Knead Sour-Dough, 2 coats: brownish-red with red shimmer.  This color does seem a little frosty, but the good thing is it doesn't show any brush strokes.  It also flowed onto the nail well and dried quickly.

Muir Muir On The Wall, 2 coats: black-purple base with strong red shimmer.  I wouldn't go so far as to say this color is a duochrome, but as you can see, the red shimmer does lean slightly gold at extreme angles.  It's a nice color, especially if you like colors that glow.  On top of that, it's very pigmented and easy to apply.

First Date At The Golden Gate, 2 coats: standard red creme.  Not much to say about this color.  It's a classic red that seems to appear every two collections or so.  Great formula, great finish. ^^

Lost On Lombard, 2 coats: dark red creme.  This is a pretty straightforward dark red that doesn't have any brown in it.  Again, excellent pigmentation and consistency.

Embarca-Dare Ya!, 2 coats: magenta shimmer with a touch of gold.  You can see the gold in the bottle, but on the nail it just looked like pink shimmer.  No problems were found with the formula here either.

In The Cable Car-Pool Lane, 2 coats: dark berry creme.  Aside from the reds, I feel this is the most redundant color from OPI.  I'm pretty sure there was a color like this in the James Bond collection (winter 2012) and the Mariah Carey collection (spring 2013).  It's definitely a nice color, but if you already have something like this, you probably won't need another. (Unless you collect berry cremes the way I collect mint cremes.)

Dining Al Frisco, 2 coats: sky blue shimmer-creme.  This one is a little "brush-strokey," but other than that, it applied well.  I don't think the brush strokes are too distracting, so if you like it, go for it! :)

Keeping Suzi At Bay, 2 coats: blue creme.  I really liked how this looked on me because I'm partial to blues.  I think one of my first salon brand polishes was a navy blue creme, so this color makes me happy.

Incognito In Sausalito, 2 coats: almost black navy creme.  This color definitely looks black in the shade, but in good lighting it looks like a very dark blue.  Again, I like colors like this and the formula on this was exceptional.  Always a plus with dark colors!

Peace & Love & OPI, 2 coats: blue-grey duochrome that shifts purple.  In the sun, this color tends to shift from grey to purple depending on the way the sun is hitting it.  However, in the shade, you get the full duochrome impact of seeing both colors at once.  Also, you don't need to layer this over a black!  Two coats on its own and it's perfect.

Haven't The Foggiest, 2 coats: grey-silver metallic.  This color had great coverage and dried quickly as well.

On to the three textures!  These were all taken in sunlight.

It's All San Andreas's Fault, 2 coats: dark taupe liquid sand creme.  I usually don't like creme textures, but OPI did a great job with the textures in this collection.  I actually really like this one and I feel the texture makes it look like leather.  It's a trendy polish, but it still feels classic.  Love!

Wharf! Wharf! Wharf!, 2 coats: navy blue creme liquid sand.  Another great creme texture!  I was a little worried it might stain, but it didn't.  If you like blue polish, you'll like this. :)

Below is Alcatraz...Rocks, 2 coats: navy blue texture with very fine multicolored shimmer/glitter.  This color is so complex and beautiful!  The glitters sparkle purple, green, blue, and gold.  Like most glitter textures, it dries fairly quickly and stays on like iron.  To be honest, this was the only polish that excited me when in the bottle, and on the nail it exceeded my expectations.  If you get one polish from this collection - it's this one.  Even if you hate textures, give this a try!

Another close-up because it's that awesome.

Verdict:  Not the most imaginative fall collection, but it does have every fall color you need.  If you're collection is not that extensive and you're looking for darker colors this season, this collection can definitely give you the staples.  All of the colors were opaque in two coats and applied like a dream.  I will say that the textures were really well done for this collection - some of my favorites from OPI so far - especially Below is Alcatraz...Rocks!
